If exercising on dry ground is getting a little dull, how about some paddleboard Pilates along the Hudson River? One of Manhattan Kayak Company's instructors, Shannon MacDowell, told DNAinfo that she plans to introduce paddleboard Pilates in August, as part of her Liquid Fusion class that takes place in the middle of the Hudson River.
Manhattan Kyack launched paddleboard yoga classes last summer, but now the instructors have decided to add Pilates, for those that have mastered balancing on a two-and-a-half foot wide surface. But what if you fall in? "Over the last 40 years, the cleaning of the Hudson has been unbelievable," she says. "We're in the water all the time, and there's no third eyeball on my forehead." Lucky for her, all recent water monsters have been confined to the East River.
