New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

William Kahn is the accessories editor at W magazine where he's responsible for filling the pages with all the handbags, jewelry, and sunglasses that you'll be craving next season. He also lends his hand to the magazine's blog, writing posts about what he's currently lusting after (like a recent story on what to pack when heading to Fire Island). Here, Kahn tells us where he shops for the perfect hostess gift in Greenwich Village.
During the summer I'm always looking for gifts. Whether they be for a hostess gift or a wedding shower, my one-stop shop is William-Wayne & Co. on University Place. They always have just the right thing from painted enamel trays, linen cocktail napkins, and bamboo serving utensils to vintage highball sets for the bar. The pieces are unique and won't be the same old candle or serving platter some other fool brings from Williams Sonoma. They even gift wrap! Stop here on the way out to the beach and you'll be your hostess' favorite guest this weekend.· W Magazine [Official Site]
