This is Store Sidekicks, an occasional end-of-the-week feature in which we profile the fuzzy wuzzy creatures who inhabit shops around the city. If you'd like to nominate your favorite store animal, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dave's Wear House in Chinatown specializes in bikes, skateboards, and what you'd wear while riding them—think Nike, Adidas, and Converse sneakers, and clothing from Levi's, Dickies, and more. On top of all that, the shop has one other thing that draws a crowd: Squishy, the 11-year-old pug that hangs out in the store everyday.
Shop owner Dave Ortiz says he's had Squishy since she was eight weeks old, and that she loves to pose for photos with the customers. She also enjoys hiding under the clothing racks, and will pop out when you least expect it. And despite her age, Squishy still enjoys the limelight; Dave says that she has her own Etnies sneaker, and even her own clothing line, Squishy New York.
