To settle a gentleman's debate, Gothamist took to the streets to see what average New Yorkers think of guys in cargo shorts. Opinions were split; some argued they're nice for carrying pocket-size things, whereas others feel there's no excuse for such attire. Their managing editor even weighed in: "My feeling is, if you're a grown man who's going to wear shorts in New York City, you've already given up on life, so what's the difference?" [Gothamist]
