The seventh annual Diva's Shop for Opera sale kicks off today at 82 Mercer Street, which will offer up vintage and designer clothing at big markdowns, along with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. If all that sounds too good to be free, it's not: A ticket to the VIP preview hour from 5pm to 6pm is $375 (with 10% off all purchases) and a regular ticket is $75. All of the merchandise is donated, and proceeds will go toward the creation of New York City Opera costumes.
And if the Post's sources are right, then it looks like a lot what you can buy came straight from the closet of Amanda Brooks. "We're told that 'thousands and thousands of dollars' worth of Prada, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Jil Sander, Tuleh, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel designs, plus 'loads of shoes,' were donated."
