It's Official: Fairway Is Coming to Kips Bay

After a few months of rumors, Fairway has announced that it will indeed be opening in Kips Bay. The market will settle into the spot formerly occupied by Crunch and Office Depot on Second Avenue and 30th Street, and Crain's New York Business adds that Staples is rumored to be filling Border's vacant slot.

The market is scheduled to open in November, which would be just in time for Thanksgiving. From what we've seen in our own comments section alone, locals would be thrilled to have an alternative to D'agostino, Gristedes, and Food Emporium. However, anyone who enjoyed relative peace and quiet at the Loews movie theater next door can probably kiss that goodbye.
