Saks has decided to give its eighth-floor shoe department a makeover. WWD reports that the shoe department will receive an additional 10,000 square feet, and that it will include all categories: day shoes, evening shoes, and shoes people will lose their shit over. Saks will also add a handful of new lines, including Carven, Jason Wu, MM6, Pierre Hardy, Proenza Schouler, Rachel Comey, and more.
According to President and CEO Chief Merchant Ron Frasch, so much emphasis is being put on the shoe department because it's the second most productive area in the entire store. It's also, for some, full of feelings. "I watch the women get off the elevator, with their eyes wide open. They're not walking onto the floor. They're kind of diving into it. It's an emotional purchase."
