As one would expect, La Perla's sample sale at 225 Fifth Avenue is one sweet confection of silk, lace, and all that jazz. If you're looking to slip into something sexy, the brand's lingerie, swimwear, sleepwear, and ready-to-wear is all up to 80% off. Since the sale officially began yesterday, the selection was dwindling, but we did manage to find some diamonds in the rough in the form of Jean Paul Gaultier.
In the depths of the tubs of delicates, we pulled out some "A-ha!" pieces by the French designer, who has already created two collections for La Perla. Since only a few of those styles are offered, they are not listed on the price list and are instead being sold for 80% off of retail. Keep in mind that retail is still pretty high, though: Hot pink tulle briefs, for example, normally go for $534, making them now $106.80. And a nude cone bra, much in the same spirit of the one he designed for Madonna for her 1990 Blond Ambition Tour, is now $130.60, down from $653.
In terms of set-up, panties are divided in bins by size (XS, S, M, L, XL). Bras are sized A through E and are divided in the same fashion. While different lines of the brand have different prices, La Perla and Black Label underwear will cost $50 for one pair and $90 for two. Bras are $80 and have a similar promotion of two for $140. You'll also be able to find bathing suits, cotton nightgowns, pajama sets, and plaid bustiers on racks throughout the room. Who knew there was La Perla for men? Men's underwear, teensy weensy swimwear, and silk pajamas are also for sale at the front. This is a European brand we're talking about, after all.
Accessories are almost sold out—we were told that masks, gloves, and hats are all gone. While those won't be restocked, bras and panties will most likely be replenished today or tomorrow. The sale runs through Thursday, June 14. Consult the Dealfeed for more details.
