Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Marc Jacobs store on Mercer Street in Soho just got itself a new addition: The word "art" painted in hot pink across the entire facade. A tipster wrote in to Jeremiah's Vanishing New York that "three Russian guys" were working on cleaning it up, and that one of them explained: "It's an art show. No, I'm kidding. Someone make a joke."

Some commenters, however, seem convinced that it all might just be a marketing ploy. One of them further backs up that argument by noting, "Just look at the size of the painting. [They] most likely needed a ladder to have splashed paint on that, and no passerby noticed it?" Putting that theory aside for a moment, does anyone known where graffiti artist Kidult was last night?

Update: It was Kidult.
