Botkier Says Goodbye to Mott Street, With Plans to Relocate

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Yesterday, a tipster wrote in to let us know that the Botkier store in Nolita had "abruptly closed," and that the windows were all papered up. We stopped by this afternoon, and saw that it's definitely closed, and that the paper on the windows has been replaced with a "Retail Space Available" sign.

One of Botkier's reps let us know that the lease was up on their Mott Street store, which opened up back in January of 2010. But don't worry: Monica Botkier is currently looking for a bigger space on either the Upper East Side or in Soho. Considering the popularity of the brand's sample sales, which includes the one that ended just two days ago, fans of the brand will have plenty to look forward to come fall.—Jamie Cooper
