Free Leather Jackets at Superdry; A Marc Jacobs Graffiti Update

New, 2 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

TIMES SQUARE—The city's third Superdry opens at 49th Street and Seventh Avenue tomorrow morning, and to mark the occasion, the brand is giving out free leather jackets to the first 100 shoppers. The giveaway begins at 9am tomorrow, but we found some mega-fans waiting outside in the rain this afternoon. One said he'd been there since 10am. Don't have that kind of commitment, but want to get in on the freebie action? If you're one of the next 500 shoppers, you'll walk away with a free t-shirt. [RackedWire]

SOHO—The New York Observer has a lengthy update on the pink paint covering the Marc Jacobs Soho store. Apparently, it was the French graffiti artist Kidult, who tweeted about it. That doesn't mean, though, that the MJ team didn't capitalize on it: They also tweeted, and posted an Instagram photo that read "Art Jacobs @ Marc Jacobs Collection." [NYO]
