There are plenty of high-end boutiques in the Meatpacking District, but newcomer Owen is the only one decorated with 25,000 paper bags. The textured look, which was dreamed up by architect Jeremy Barbour, didn't come easy. A crew of seven workers spent nine full days stapling them in place.

Owner Philip Salem, who is just a few years out of FIT, says that he drew inspiration from the building's previous incarnations. That's why it's so industrial, and also why it's filled with fresh flowers; at one point, the space housed a florist.
