Botkier's Sample Sale Continues with Modest Markdowns

We got word of markdowns at Monica Botkier's 225 Fifth Avenue sample sale and stopped by this morning. The sale was still well-organized, with more staffers than shoppers. The people who were mulling around were carefully contemplating their purchases in front of full length mirrors.

Spend your time at the center table where they've got promotional pricing on select iPad cases, clutches, and shoulder bags: All of them are $100 or less! The Caravel shoulder bag is now $75 (previously $125 and originally $325) and the Nicola clutch is now $100 (previously $150 and originally $295.)

Beyond the promo table, select larger bags are now an additional 10% to 15% off. To determine pricing you'll need to cross-compare the pricing photo chart with handwritten pricing on the bags themselves. If the bag is marked for a lower price, that's what you pay. The Stella tote was going for $195 (including a bright coral) (previously $225 and originally $425) while the Valentina hobo remained at $225 (originally $395.) The on-trend mint version was super tempting.

While there's still a variety of sample bags available, don't expect further restocking. There's only one more box left in the back. Same goes for the four lonely shelves of shoes (limited availability in sizes 37 through 39). No change in pricing here, with sample bags ranging from $50 to $250 and shoes for $50 to $75. We spotted a sample of the coveted Valentina in a new-to-us tote style in an unusual shade of blue for $250 that we left behind for one of you to nab. Was it a one-of-a-kind? We think so! Inspect everything before purchasing and beware of damaged hardware and sticky zippers among the samples.

The sale continues through 8pm tonight and will be open tomorrow 11am—8pm. Weekend hours are 10am—4pm. Cash and credit accepted.—Kiran
