New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Jason Chen is the associate style editor at Details. He covers a wide range of topics including travel, grooming, and his favorite realm of all: food. His recommendation is a Chinatown jerky shop that caters to all your beefy needs. Rumor has it every now and then they even sell t-shirts to commemorate your chewing experience.
I'm a huge fan of jerky in all forms, but my favorite is the Chinese-style beef jerky that they sell at New Beef King on Bayard Street in Chinatown. It's like dehydrated meat heaven there—you can get beef or pork, wet or dry, strip style or chunks. I like all of it (surprise), but my absolute favorite is the spicy beef chunks, which are like little nuggets of zesty, sweet, super umami beef—they kind of look like dog treats, which is a totally unappetizing way to describe them, but if you get them, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. I like to keep mine in the freezer so I have to chew each chunk for like an hour, but they're good at room temperature too.· New Beef King [Official Site]
