M.A.C.'s Fifth Avenue Flagship Will Open in November

M.A.C. has officially confirmed rumors that it's opening at 691 Fifth Avenue near 54th Street. Landlords for the space, which used to house Elizabeth Arden's Red Door Spa, reportedly asked for $3,000 per square foot in monthly rent. M.A.C. wouldn't comment on what it's paying, but if that's true, it's a New York City record.

The shop will be M.A.C.'s ninth New York store and its second flagship worldwide. It's slated to open in November 2012, just a month before the brand debuts a third flagship in Paris. As construction progresses, look out for colorful installations on the exterior; M.A.C. plans to make sure everyone on Fifth Avenue knows who's moving into the space.
