New York's Wackiest Mattress Store Delivers via Bike

New, 2 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Coco-Mat, the new high-end mattress store on Mercer Street, is offering a 5% discount on its line of handmade, eco-friendly bedding to anyone willing to ride with them as they deliver your purchase on bike. Bike? Yes, bike. The two-seated vehicle is painted kelly green and has a wagon big enough to transport your bed anywhere in the city. They're a truly hospitable bunch, so if you offer to ride alone, you may just get 10% off—just don't say we told you so.

This ongoing deal is a part of Coco-Mat's anti-pollution, pro-health philosophy. Other spa-like services: Freshly squeezed orange juice and a private mattress-testing bedroom, otherwise known as a nap chamber. They're also offering giveaways of items like eye masks and slippers, made from the same recycled, natural materials as their beds.—Anne Ebani
