LOWER EAST SIDE—Last night, the Lower East Side BID proposed their plans to bring Orchard Street back to its "bargain district" days. Their idea is to hold "community festivals" on Sundays, which would have to include primarily local businesses, as well as non-profit organizations, to be accepted. The Lo-Down reports that SVA students have designed the June 3rd test-run, and that it will be "built around the concept of large wooden boxes, which merchants will use as contemporary pushcarts."
