Alice + Olivia is on the verge of expansion, which according to an article in today's WWD, includes setting up a new shop in the Meatpacking District. The brand, helmed by Stacey Bendet, will soon take its playful ready-to-wear to Stella McCartney's former store at 431 West 14th Street. Though McCartney recently explained that she likes her new Soho location because it's "a little more grownup," Bendet doesn't seem to mind the youthfulness of the neighborhood.
There's a great energy downtown. Our brand has so much exposure. We can really make the street come alive again. While there are [retail] spaces available, the traffic's amazing."
It's a good thing she's so into that energy, because Alice + Olivia has also decided to move its offices down there too, just a few doors away at 450 West 14th Street. Other things in the works: Bendet tells WWD that she wants to build the brand's shoe business, and that they'll be launching a gown collection at Neiman Marcus, Net-a-Porter, and more in September. She adds, "We might do something in the home area because our clothing is a lifestyle brand about the modern-day cool girl." We're hoping for pillows in this print, bedding like this, and maybe a kitschy waffle maker or two, for good measure.
