New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

He's dressed stars like Tina Fey and Blake Lively and was named a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist in 2010 (just three years after launching his namesake label), but Christian Cota;s favorite shop in NYC is a far cry from the world of sewing rooms and technical designs. He recommends Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks, a quaint shop in the West Village filled with signed cookbooks by Julia Child.
I live in Chelsea, but am often in the West Village browsing stores and dining. A few months ago, I stopped in Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks on West 10th. Bonnie's store is one of those places that make you feel lucky to have found it and you are always guaranteed a special experience. Her assortment ranges from WWI cookbooks to vintage etiquette books to signed cookbooks by Julia Child.
Not only is her assortment out of this world, but Ms. Slotnick will personally hunt down the rare reads you are searching for—she has certainly upstaged any service I have received at any other bookstore! Among her assortment, an old copy of Vogue Entertaining & Travel magazine caught my eye. I snagged it for a last minute birthday gift for my good friend. If you are looking for a special gift, an out-of-date cookbook, or simply a wonderful experience, this store is a must see.· Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks [Official Site]
