There was no line to get into the Jimmy Choo sample sale this afternoon, and no line to check out either. But it was a war zone in there. Women were clutching as many bags and pairs of shoes as they could carry, tagged at prices that might not be worth the hassle. The most exciting thing we saw was Real Housewife of New York Sonja Morgan out and about, trying on several pairs of heels.
Let's start with the small leather goods. Everything is now $20 at the S.L.G. table, making it the best option (if only just for the price point.) Most of the bags and wallets were dirty and picked over, with mainly credit card cases and change purses left. For only $20, we bet you could clean the dirt off, though. As for sunglasses: There are only about six pairs left, all over-sized black or clear frames. Nothing to get excited over.
We saw plenty of handbags, especially in red and in nude. Note that the lighter colors are pretty dirty. There are a lot of star-studded hobos left in a variety of colors. Prices are still the same as in our last update: small bags are $250, medium bags are $350, and large bags are $450. There were a lot of evening clutches in fun prints, all reduced to just $20.
As far as the shoes, worn shoes were reduced to $50, while new shoes are still $225. We found the selection to be kind of all over the place, with lots of nude pumps and espadrilles in all sizes. You have to dig if you want anything that's not scratched or too beat-up. The size 40 and up tables had the best finds, including a hot pair of gold, glittery heels that we found in size 41.
If you're looking for Jimmy Choo for UGGs and/or Jimmy Choo for Hunter Boots, though, you're in luck. There are more than plenty left. They are $225 for new and $50 for worn, but we bet prices will drop even more by the end of the day.—Danielle Desmond
