Last night, as editors and bloggers lined up around the block to get into the Marni x H&M launch preview party, fashion student Natasha was waiting patiently on the other side of the Fifth Avenue flagship. She'd been there since 8am that morning.
Natasha told us this wasn't her first time camping out for a collection. "I waited outside for Lanvin and Versace," she said, "so I am like an expert." For the Versace launch, she was twelfth in line, so she decided to arrive 24 hours early this time around to make sure there would be no one ahead of her. She had friends meeting her later and was carrying a folding chair in a bag.
Originally from Moscow, she'd come to New York to study fashion, and she had her eye on the Marni x H&M accessories. The fashion insiders at the party all had exactly the same idea—about ten minutes after the doors opened for them, the jewelry inside was gone. Staffers assured everyone that it would be restocked before the public launch this morning.
