New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

As the co-founder and designer of NUMBER:Lab, a New York-based clothing line geared towards the "athletic side of the discerning man," Luis Fernandez designs board shorts, light-weight jackets, and blazers. So he wants to see his two-year-old son dressed to the nines—a task he accomplishes with the help of My Little Sunshine in Chelsea.
My Little Sunshine is an amazing kids' store on 9th Avenue and 20th Street. Their toys are great and are both modern and old-world, like a log building set I just purchased. They also make great gifts for birthday parties.
The boys' clothes (and girls' too) are well-designed duds from super cool brands that approach children's clothes with style. They have an adult sensibility, yet are playful enough so your child doesn't look like grandfather (I hate when children's clothing designers assume they have to be pastel pinks or blues, and be sprinkled with an array of monkey faces). I recently purchased this Bobo Choses paint-splattered fleece shirt and an Automoblox mini modern toy car for my little guy.· My Little Sunshine [Official Site]
