Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
After years of being stocked by shops around town, collab-happy plastic shoe label Melissa is finally opening a New York City location of its very own. The gallery-like space launches with several installations by Assume Vivid Astro Focus, the same art collective that put together Gaga's Workshop at Barneys. (Like Melissa, co-founder Eli Sudbrack is Brazilian.)
We'll take a closer look at the space in a bit, but first, please enjoy 30 seconds of a trippy video installation from the back of the store. Want to see it in person? The shop, at 102 Greene Street, officially opens to the public this weekend, but you could probably get a peek before then if you stop by.
