New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

You know Christian Siriano—he became the youngest winner to grace Bravo's Project Runway after interning at both Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen, he's been heralded by Tim Gun as a "prodigy," and Oprah has deemed his clothing "works of art." Based in New York City, he lives in Chelsea with his boyfriend.
I stumbled upon Maison 140 just walking in my neighborhood a few months ago in Chelsea and what caught my eye was a vintage French 18th century reproduction chair in the window. I knew the store was new so I was excited because what was in the window was exactly my style. Once I was inside my boyfriend and I were hooked and we have visited the store a few times since then—and we've never left empty-handed, even if it's just with a candle.
I think the best part of the store are the carefully-selected items for so many different types of homes. It all has character and reminds me of a vintage store I visited in Paris last year. It's small and every corner is filled with something cool and interesting to look at. A perfect place for well-priced home accessories and furniture for the eclectic New York shopper who loves to decorate and have fun with interior design.· Maison 140 [Official Site]
