Yesterday afternoon, Betsey Johnson advised students at a panel at the High School of Fashion Industries how to get a job in fashion. Her advice included, "Basically, just go out and buy yourself a big old horseshoe and carry it in your back pocket. Most of my life is a lot of luck, crazy luck." She drove the point home further when she explained how her career started: "I didn't know anyone. I was short and fat and white, WASPy.
