New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Edward Cruz is a NYC-based beauty expert who's worked on faces like Anna Wintour, Jennifer Lopez, and Tory Burch, as well as everyone's favorite Beverly Hills housewife Adrienne Maloof. A few months back while he was working on set with Ludacris, he stumbled upon Probus NYC, a shop that's well worth the visit to 181 Street.

I'd have to say my favorite shop is Probus NYC, just off Broadway on West 181 Street. It's in Washington Heights and is definitely a hidden jewel. In September I was working with a stylist who was shooting Ludacris. She luckily sent me to Probus NYC to check it out, and I've been going back ever since.
This is where you'll find local designers as well as upscale urban brands like Y-3. They also stock Blackburn, a new favorite of mine, which was created from the former designers of Coogi. I'm also obsessed with their collection of sneakers from brands like Clae and Android Homme. To top it off, the knowledgeable service is great and best of all—they're bilingual.
