The womenswear at the Barneys Warehouse Sale was a bit ho-hum this morning, and unfortunately the shoes follow in its footsteps. Folks weren't too excited when they found flats they "bought two sales ago" and the same super-ornate Rodarte wedges that were seared in our memory from last time. That said, there were some gems.
Alexander Wang boots and heels were all over the place in every size, so if there was ever a time to stock up on Wang, it is now. Over-the-knee leather boots in 5s, 6s, 7s, and 8s went for $395 (down from $895) and ankle boots went for $209 (from $525). There were Alexander Wang brown pumps with a woven top for $199 (down from $2195) and Alexander Wang powder blue heels with a fluff ball on top for $359 (down from $895).
Between all the Alexander Wang, there were other options like Theysken's Theory wedged ankle boots for $169 (down from $485) or grey flat boots for $239 (down from $595), 3.1 Phillip Lim light blue shoes with tassel for $145 (down from $189), and Rag & Bone brown wedge lace-ups for $199 (down from $495).
Size eight seemed to have the most selection, although it was hard to tell once the crowds got to the shelves. Regardless, those shelves definitely had the most to offer by way of boots. There were no closed-toed flats to speak of in any size but a few sandal options (and even more so if you like your sandal with some heel). Co-op sandals went for $239 or $99 depending on the style, and Band of Outsiders offered quite a few wooden platform lace-ups with colorful chiffon ties for $169 (down from $465) in every size.
It could be argued size 7 was best in show. Those shelves boasted several choices of Lanvin wedge sandals for $569 (down from $1420), Marc by Marc Jacobs purple wedge for $139 (down from $350; also in size 5), the solitary Chloé wedge for $850 (down from $909) and a purple pump with a heel that looks like dripping candle wax by Rodarte (along with the ubiquitous Alexander Wang options).
In the larger sizes, 9 and up weren't too shabby either as far as brands go with Miu Miu pumps, Proenza Schouler vampy heels, Givenchy booties, and Céline sandals.
Obviously, we've covered nowhere near the amount of merch they had on the shelves, and though many of the early bird shoppers were dissatisfied with the options, there's no telling if your perfect heel awaits. Your best bet is to go and see for yourself.
