DSW Is Moving Into the Filene's Basement Spot on the UWS

That was fast: The empty Filene's Basement on Broadway between 79th and 80th Streets officially has a new tenant lined up. Filene's liquidation sale was expected to last through January, but the stores ended up shuttering right after the holidays. Now, West Side Rag reports that a DSW is coming.

The story adds that what was originally a rumor has been confirmed by DSW store reps. But it seems as though the space will stay empty for a little while longer, as the discount shoe chain isn't scheduled to move in until June. Fingers crossed that the new store will receive "boatloads of marked down Gucci," like the one in Union Square just did in November.
