Despite launching just a month ago, the Target x Neiman Marcus holiday collaboration has already received the markdown treatment. On a recent trip to Target, Madison Avenue Spy found that the collection was priced at up to 50% off. She adds that what's left isn't exactly going fast, and that there are only three items that have sold out: the Rodarte wrapping paper, the DVF yoga mat, and the Tory Burch thermos.
So is the discounting of a holiday-timed collection just normal protocol, or a sign that designer collabs have jumped the shark? Madison Avenue Spy adds another detail that points to the latter: "While one might say that it's timely to slash the prices on items such as Jason Wu Christmas tree ornaments and Band of Outsider cookie cutters, we found that other seasonal items in Target to only be discounted 30% off." Head to our national site for a thorough look at that debate, or weigh in in the comments below.
