Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The Loeffler Randall sample sale opened to the public this morning, where plenty of shoes from current and past seasons are marked down 50% to 60% off. Though prices here are never that insanely low, it's the selection that's definitely worth the trip.
Flats are priced at around $150, and boots hover around the $300 mark. The showroom is comprised mostly of shoes from the current fall and winter collections, but staffers were also excited about a handful of one-off samples that never went into production, like the Gigi flat: a maroon polka-dot haircalf which would have retailed for $250, but here is on sale for $150.
The sale includes a few racks of the ever-popular Sophie boots in brown and black, marked down from $695 to $300. The Blaise flat is available with stud detailing or snake embossing for $125 (was $325), and the Dita pump is available in both the spring and fall versions for $150 (was $425).
There are a fair amount of Eva booties in brown leather and black suede for $200. We also spotted a pair of the Rosie peep-toe pump that we featured in our massive list of December sample sales. As for sizing: 5s through 12s are all present, but sizes 7 and 7.5 will have the most to choose from.
Past-season merchandise is also filtered in, like the neon-trimmed Valentine wedges and wood-and-cork Sasha wedges. We also spotted sandals sprinkled throughout. There are a handful of bags on a rack to the left of the showroom, and they're definitely worth checking out before you get lost in the shoes. They're priced from $200 to $300, and with fur and neon details they're pretty hard to ignore. All the bags for sale are out on the floor, but the staff did mention that they have a surplus of stock in some shoe styles.
If yesterday's preview was any indication, the sale will most likely get pretty crazy today. The hours are from 10am to 7pm today and tomorrow; for additional details, see the dealfeed below.—Naomi Collett Ritz
