Manhattan's retail scene is slowly getting back to business after Hurricane Sandy, but there are definitely still stores that are struggling. The Times reports that Chelsea is having a difficult time, specifically, Comme des Garçons and Balenciaga, which were both badly flooded.
Over three feet of water rushed into Comme des Garçons on West 22nd Street, though the boutique was able to reopen today. Balenciaga, on the other hand, won't be so lucky. According to the article, the store is "now unrecognizable," and the brand is looking for a temporary space while it waits for the Soho store to open this spring.
