The Times might not necessarily judge you for applying makeup on the subway, but they will take a photo of you doing it. In a recent slideshow, photographer Jeff Mermelstein took ten unflattering portraits of women applying their makeup on the train, most of whom were putting on mascara. Take heed, other people who get ready in transit: they all managed to avoid doing it with their mouths agape. [NYT]
