New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Designer Aimee Wilder lives in Williamsburg, and she spends her days working on prints and patterns for wallpaper, fabric, and home accessories, as well as iPhone covers and pet products. She's the first to admit that she's fussy when it comes to returns and exchanges, but luckily this Nolita shop can put up with her antics—and keep her supplied with plenty of dresses.
My all time favorite spot is a shop on Elizabeth Street called Condor. The owner has gone out of her way to help me find new pieces for my wardrobe—she's even gone as far as to bring up tons of dresses from her secret stash, and she spends a lot of time helping me find so many things that work. Her taste is just impeccable. I honestly never wore anything belted or with a waist before going to her shop, and I found a dress I love so much I am having pieces in similar silhouettes made in a bunch of different fabrics. There is also an adorable little angora bunny named Merlin who lives in the store below the center display table in a plexiglass pen. I am a pain in the butt with returns and exchanges, and they have been so nice to keep a credit on file for me for the next time I stop in.
