New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Amy Levin is the founder and creative director of CollegeFashionista. A fashion lover from the start, she launched IU Fashionista as an undergrad at the University of Indiana. Interest in the site quickly spread to other campuses, and soon her part-time hobby was a full-time career. Now twenty-five and living in NYC, Levin pointed us to the only shop that she'll head uptown for.
As a downtown dweller, going uptown is a trek, but say the name Maison 24 and I am already in a cab. Walking into this boutique is like walking into someone's personal collection of rare gems; everything has a one-of-the-kind feel. From their Keith Haring Domino Set (which makes for a perfect Friday evening in) to their giant Gummy Bear light that every candy lover needs, this store is a hidden treasure.
My apartment is chock-full of traditional and trend-setting pieces from Maison 24. Looking for something that makes your friends ask, "Hey, where did you get that?" Then make the journey to the UES and I promise you won't be disappointed.· Maison 24 [Official Site]
