This afternoon, we waited about thirty minutes to get into the 3.1 Phillip Lim sample sale on Hudson Street. Sweaters, coats, and jackets were the most popular items there, ranging in price from $150 to $800. These racks however, were disastrous at best, with few similar styles grouped together. If your size appears to be absent, continue looking around the room, since everything is pretty jumbled.
Tons of silk tops, light knit sweaters, tanks, and tees are also available, marked from $50 to $150. These were well-stocked with most sizes were present, and the racks were also more organized. Generally, these were the best bets, and if they're what you're after, you won't be disappointed.
Tons of belts were still available for $50, and about ten pairs of leather gloves for $50 were also hanging around, though they weren't garnering too much attention. If you're end goal is shoes or bags, best of luck to you: There didn't seem to be much of either available, however plenty of shoppers were still prowling around the haphazard piles. Most of the bags that did remain were clutches, and a few chunky heels were left in a handful of styles.
There are no dressing rooms, so most women were hiding behind the racks near a mirror in the back of the room. The braver souls took their chances by the mirror at the entrance to the room.
The sale ends tomorrow at 7pm, so be sure to get there early if you're hoping to snag a winter coat or sweater before they sell out. Keep in mind, too, that finding the sale is a little tricky: Though the address is technically 304 Hudson Street, you have to enter through the back entrance on Spring Street and ride the rickety freight elevator to the eighth floor.—Kelly Marshall
