Welcome to Shops Illustrated, a Racked feature in which artist Jennifer Hoyden sketches New York City stores. For each entry, she'll draw a street view, an interior look, and some items currently hanging on the racks.
On the Upper East Side, real estate and retail therapy tend to cause equal degrees of sticker shop. But at Yumi Kim, shoppers can breathe a sigh of relief. The tops and dresses come in forgiving cuts and reasonable prices. Most pieces are rendered in a wide range of solids, as well as splashy patterns inspired by vintage fabrics.
After shopping the store for all those perfect date looks, brides-to-be often return for wedding inspiration. (The Taisia and Leon dresses are very popular for bridesmaids.) Beside the clothes, there is an offering of footwear, scented candles, coordinating journals, and a big welcoming couch to rest in.
