To real estate wonks, City Point is known as the giant development going up at the corner of Dekalb and Flatbush along the revitalized Fulton Street Mall. To local shoppers, though, it's more famous for being the spot that will eventually house gentrified Brooklyn's very first Century 21. So it's a little confusing to learn that City Point's first retail tenant won't be the love-it-or-hate-it department store but Armani Exchange, which isn't known for inflaming quite the same passions.
The deal: Armani Exchange is planning to debut this November on the corner of Fulton Street and Albee Square, in what's known as the first phase of the City Point project. As for Century 21, it's still happening, but there's no way it will be ready for this Christmas season. When the store announced its expansion back in May, officials gave the year 2015 for an opening date.
