New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Originally from New Zealand, Rebecca Taylor is now based in New York City. She defines her aesthetic as feminine, modern, refined, and cool, and counts ladies like Alexa Chung, Reese Witherspoon, Rashida Jones, and Emmy Rossum as devoted fans. A shopping fanatic, Taylor's favorite spot is in the West Village.

Anytime I'm in the West Village, I try to stop by Mick Margo, a cozy yet sophisticated boutique on Commerce Street. It's small but is filled with lots of great, curated pieces from Parisian and New York labels—really special things that you can't find at department stores. I go there for ballet flats and delicate jewelry as it all has a very European sensibility. They always have a great selection of Isabel Marant too. I found a great nubby gray Marant sweater there a few seasons back that I wear all the time.
Update: Commenter #1 is right; Mick Margo is closed. We regret the error.
