Based on the number of people out jogging this morning, it's safe to say that nothing—not even city-wide flooding and power outages—will keep some New Yorkers from their daily exercise. Yesterday, Equinox announced that they would remain open through the storm, and today, certain locations are indeed up and running. The 19th Street gym even sent around an email at 8pm last night offering complimentary workouts, although when we called today to follow up, nobody answered the phone.
Here's what the email had to say:
At Equinox we are committed to delivering an unparalleled experience. We will be open regular hours tomorrow and invite you to come in for a complimentary workout.
Of course, we take safety seriously, and as such, we are operating with leaner staff. Please use your judgment while traveling.Equinox CEO Harvey Spevak reiterated the safety talking point to the Observer yesterday:
Safety of our trainers, employees, and customers is our top priority....We assessed the situation and decided to hold normal operating hours today.Customers seem appreciative—yesterday, Bravo's Andy Cohen tweeted that the Greenwich Avenue location was packed.
