Apparently, the Hotel Wolcott on 31st Street has a problem with tourists going to Herald Square, buying everything in sight, and then running out of space in their hotel rooms. So this season, the hotel is introducing a "Shopping Suite" that comes with a third room solely meant to accommodate shopping bags.
The hotel's press release blames the proximity of Macy's and the 34th Street shopping corridor, although they don't let Fifth Avenue or Soho off the hook. With all that nearby retail, it's really just common human decency for them to offer a bag room for just $190 a night and up. Of course, the hotel has its own gift shop, in case you want to buy a bunch of stuff from there, too.
