Columbus Avenue is about to get a lot more fabulous. The New York Post reports that jewelry label Alexis Bittar, best known for its chunky bangles and cheeky ad campaigns, has signed a lease for 410 Columbus between 79th and 80th.
Bittar already has locations on the Upper East Side, in Soho, and in the West Village, but clearly the Upper West Side's population of jewelry buyers was especially attractive to the brand. According to the Post, a bidding war broke out during negotiations, raising the rent to $330 a square foot—which might be a record for Columbus north of 75th Street. Not bad for a space that used to house a Supercuts.
