New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Thomas Trube is the Director of National Sales for Joey Showroom and has hosting duties over at Fashion Matters TV, where he interviews today's designers and fashion players like Gio Diev, Laurel Berman, Piper Gore, and Azature. When he has the free time, his favorite place to shop is Environment Furnitureon the Bowery.
I love to go to the Bowery and check out Environment Furniture. I want everything in this store! Its the smarter version of Restoration Hardware—the hybrid Mercedes-Benz of furniture. The design aesthetic is modern but it has a classic twist, and the use of sustainably harvested wood and reclaimed and recycled materials make the sticker shock worth it. Environment Furniture is basically the two things I try to balance my life around: rugged sophistication and understated elegance.
