PARK SLOPE—An eco-friendly boutique called Bhoomki is expected to open at 158 Fifth Avenue this month in November. And according to Here's Park Slope, the level of sustainability is no joke: All of the merchandise will be handmade in New York City "using ethically-produced, organic fabrics and materials from developing countries, and there's an eye toward free trade and celebrating local artisans." [HPS]
Update: Bhoomki's owner writes in to clarify some details: "Bhoomki will sell clothing and accessories that are one or more of the following: locally made, Made in the USA, containing organic, recycled or artisan fabrics. Many of our items will be made from Fair Trade not Free Trade fabrics that support craftspeople in developing countries. Some and not all of our clothes will be made in New York. All items will not be handmade, but many will be."
