Where This Tech Accessories Designer Gets His Custom Suits

New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Jamie Clawson runs Valentine Goods, a line of premium leather accessories for iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. Rather than creating bulky cases to cover up these amazing products, he's chosen a different approach by using a double sided adhesive that is easily removable, able to be reapplied, and won't leave any residue on the back of the device. He sources his leather from the Garment District and designs every product at his studio in Long Island City. But when he makes his way to the Flatiron district, he checks out Windsor Custom, a spot in the basement of The Ainsworth that is the epitome of a sartorial man cave.

Quality men's clothing has been hard to find, until my friend Ryan Grayson introduced me to Windsor Custom. Windsor Custom is a clothing shop that specializes in custom fitted shirts and suits, all made in the USA. You walk into The Ainsworth and check-in with the hostess, Ryan comes to greet you, and you head downstairs to a space that I wish my living room looked like. You can have a drink and get measured; Ryan takes great care in getting your measurements to ensure a perfect fit. After getting measured, you pick fabric and other small details. That's the best, but also most difficult part, because there are so many great options. Appointments last an hour, so when you're done picking the perfect outfit, you can hang out, play some pool, or watch the game.
