Stella McCartney Finally Launches in Soho

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Ever since Stella McCartney announced that it would be leaving the Meatpacking District, retail gawkers have been waiting for the brand's Soho location to open. (We even placed it on our list of spaces to watch in 2012.) It's been eight months, but as of today, the move is complete. Fans will recognize certain elements of MePa in the new spot; eco-conscious McCartney has repurposed some of the design features from her old boutique into the new one.

Women's Wear Daily reports that the new Greene Street shop measures 5,200 square feet across two levels. The ground floor houses the main collection in a space decorated in McCartney's signature mauve tones, while downstairs, in the basement, you'll find kids' clothes, Adidas by Stella McCartney, and lingerie. There's also an installation of electrical tape by the artist Rebecca Ward. And, in celebration of the launch, the store is selling an exclusive dog leash for $495.
