Dealing with dry winter skin? Rain, a South Africa-based company with one New York outpost, is here to help. Their new windows feature big pictures of toast, asking if that's what your skin feels like now (answer: yes) and offering lots of pretty-smelling products that can help. You can also check out the "scrub deli," where you can create and try our your own hand scrub, and a "soap deli," where you mix essential oils to make a personalized liquid soap.
A cool, relaxing contrast to most of its surrounding Rock Center neighborhood shops, Rain is a beauty gem in Midtown. The store opened about a year ago and is the only US outpost of the popular South African beauty brand. The company is best known for its handmade soaps, but they've expanded into essential oils, home fragrances, and even bathrobes and slippers. Despite the busy street outside, Rain somehow manages to feel calm and serene, so it's a great place to escape during your lunch hour.
