New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

New York-based fashion publicist Alex Gobo has worked for some of the biggest brands in Italian fashion. When he isn't drafting press releases, managing samples, and organizing seating charts, he's reading mysteries.
Tucked away in the West Village, Partners & Crime is one of those cool, niche New York spots that makes for a perfect weekend afternoon visit for that can't-put-it-down whodunit. Stocked with the best of the best (and even the most obscure of the obscure) mystery novels, this little gem is teeming with experts in the microcosm of murder, revenge, and justice being served. From author appearances to specialized events, the independently-owned shop brings warmth and charm to a commercialized Manhattan. Another Agatha Christie novel? I'm there.
I once found an old copy of Agatha Christie's A Murder is Announced. Crisp pages but the smell of aged paper...an old book is a mystery in itself. Who owned it? Where did it come from? Where has it been? I found this spot because the name grabbed me when I first walked by. If I had a guild of art thieves (big if!), this would be our name.· Partners & Crime [Official Site]
