Less than five months after opening on Orchard Street below Delancey, menswear shop Carlos Campos has disappeared. Bowery Boogie reports that the space closed its doors last week and papered over its windows shortly thereafter.
The reason behind the closure remained a mystery over the weekend, but it was revealed on Tuesday afternoon, when someone taped legal paperwork to the shop window. According to the documents, the building's owner is evicting the boutique and suing for $28,596.73 in unpaid rent. It's a very public reminder that retail space in New York City doesn't come cheap.
