Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Karl Lagerfeld's upcoming Karl collection debuts exclusively on Net-a-Porter tomorrow, but if you'd prefer to shop it in person, you can do that at 375 Bleecker Street starting at 10:30am. The first 50 people to arrive at the launch will receive a gift from the line, and in addition to that, one lucky shopper will win a $1,500 Net-a-Porter shopping spree.
Our sister site stopped by the press preview yesterday to take a look at the clothes in the flesh, and they also weighed in on the odds of the site crashing from a Karl-frenzy overload. A spokesperson from Net-a-Porter assured: "Introducing a brand like KARL is likely to generate unprecedented traffic so we have strengthened the measures we take to protect against lapses in service and have high hopes that we will be able to provide a seamless customer experience for all those wishing to buy from the collection." But if you'd rather have it in your hands, physically, just to be sure, then head downtown tomorrow—and get there early.
