New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Plus-size model Kasia Pilewicz has been featured in V Magazine, Seventeen, and Glamour. She was on cycle 16 of America's Next Top Model, and she's made headlines in publications like Entertainment Weekly, New York magazine, and the Los Angeles Times due to her voluptuous shape and unique style. She's all about fit and form, and Sohung Designs & Collective in the East Village hits both of her sartorial needs with their meticulously tailored clothes.
Eight designers, with collections all produced in New York, make up Sohung Designs & Collective. Although I used to live just a few blocks from this East Village shop, I didn't know of its existence until I wore some of Sohung's daringly stylish pieces on an editorial fashion shoot a few months ago. The stylist pulled out these beautiful capes and dresses (all meticulously tailored) and I literally gasped with excitement as I saw the high-fashion, theatrical, edgy looks I would get to wear.
Some of the recent standouts in the shop are Kyoko Honda's gorgeous delicate gold and gemstone necklaces, Sohung's ultra-flattering women's wool coats, and Wendel Johnston's leather trimmed jackets for men Everything is reasonably priced, especially considering that it's mostly hand-made and one-of-a-kind.
